Azazel first appears in Leviticus. On the Day of Atonement the high priest laid the sins of the people on a goat and sent it out into the wilderness, "for Azazel". That goat is where the word scapegoat comes from.
In the Book of Enoch, Azazel is a leader of the Watchers, the fallen angels who came down to earth. He taught mankind to forge swords and shields and to paint their faces, and for that the angel Raphael bound him hand and foot and buried him in the desert of Dudael, under rough and jagged rocks, to wait in darkness for the final judgement.
Our Azazel takes his goat horns from the old ritual and his fury from the fall, with a few artistic freedoms of our own.
I hope you like him.
Enjoy!
